About Us

Porchlight Players was founded in 2004 as a solution to the lack of opportunities in the western end of the Eagle Valley to both attend and participate in live theater.  While numerous theatrical opportunities existed in the eastern end of the valley around Vail and Beaver Creek, we felt that distance and cost combined to make live theater inaccessible to a great number of people in our west-end communities.

Therefore, in the summer of 2004, several interested and committed people gathered to form a new community theater group which would focus on meeting the unique needs of our west-end communities.  Our mission was simple:  provide convenient and economical access to live theater, be it through attending performances or participating in the production of theatrical events.  Within months, we became incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit and began producing plays. To date, we have completed 15  productions: eight plays/musicals, four free Gypsum Daze shows, and three Summer Children's Theater Camps. We are currently planning our summer/fall season, which will include our third free Play in the Park in Eagle, our fourth  Summer Children's Theater Camp at the Lundgren Outdoor Theater and our fall show at Eagle Valley High School.
